Guys, take note...(III)

Guys, take note...(III)

Hello Fashionistas!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Still recovering from all the turkey I ate. Just kidding! But seriously, it was great seeing family and spending quality time together. Very proud of myself for completing this Christmas gift guide early in the month. If you've been following my blog since I started in 2012, you know that these gift guides are usually geared towards the guys (see here) and (here). The reason for this is, I think I have a pretty good idea of what women want, especially if it's something trending or in fashion, however, their guys' may not have a clue. Hence, these posts titled: Guys, take note... so women can leave these posts on their computers or mobile screens so their significant others can stumble upon it and get a clue as to what it is you want for a Christmas gift. Do you ladies agree with my list? If not, what would you like for Christmas?

Marley Lilly Monogrammed Me

Hello Fashionistas!
It's Fri-yay! Any big plans for the weekend? Who's going to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, part 1

Today I want to introduce you to a fabulous online company that provides monogrammed personalization for products and gifts; that company is Marley Lilly. They recently sent me a bracelet and a cross-body bag/clutch to review. Before I tell you about the products, I have to say, the items were so well packed - bubble wrap, paper and monogrammed packaging - I was really impressed. Now on to the products. The monogrammed tassel bracelet I received, measures around 7 inches with an adjustable chain and pendant. My initials were engraved on the pendant and the Marley Lilly Logo was also attached. The bracelet has a really nice gold-plated finish and the tassel gives it a bit of swag. They do have tassels in several different colors and bracelets in a silver finish. This is a bracelet I will treasure forever for the personalization and I think this will be a timeless piece of jewelry. The monogrammed Luxe cross-body bag, which can also be worn as a clutch, is perfect for date-night. It has just enough room inside for your phone, wallet and your lipstick to freshen up after dinner. The chain can be removed to become a stylish clutch. Inside there is a snap closure to prevent your contents from spilling out. Each bag has a different color trim which is not very obvious but it's all in the details. Overall, I'm very pleased with both items and you'll be seeing them on the blog often. I highly recommend that you check out Marley Lilly for affordable personalized gift ideas for the holidays, which is right around the corner. They have a variety of items to choose from, such as: jewelry, accessories, footwear, clothing and so much more.

Date Night with Jeremy Tarian

Hello Fashionistas!
It's Fri-yay! So happy the weekend is here, and to celebrate, the hubster and I went to dinner and a movie. Have you guys seen Beyond The Lights starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Nate Parker? I've been anticipating the release date of this movie since I saw the first preview; and it hasn't helped any that Wendy Williams has been showing teasers all week on her show. The movie is about the pressures of fame, two people falling in love and learning to be courageous. This is a must-see! Let me know what you think after you've seen it.

This LBD (which didn't start out that way) from Ann Taylor Loft, is a great piece to wear to the office or a business function. However, I wanted to alter it a tad bit and change it into a date night dress. Originally, the dress reaches right above the knee. After cinching at the waist using this belt from The Limited, I gathered some of the material over the belt to create what you see now. I love a black-on-black outfit, sprinkled with a few colorful accessories. The accessories were chosen to compliment the shade of my Jeremy Tarian sunglasses.

Angry Elephant 1969: Fashion With A Cause

Hello Fashionistas!
Hope everyone had a fashionating weekend. I certainly did, thanks to Angry Elephant 1969! What's an Angry Elephant? It's a Loxodonta elephant that is currently being poached for its ivory in Africa as you read this blog post. The founders of Angry Elephant created an apparel line to bring awareness of the poaching crisis (up to 25,000 elephants are killed each year for ivory) affecting the African Loxodonta elephant and the destruction of its natural habitat. The company's products include T-shirts, hoodies, headgear, and wrist bands which promote the message of the Angry Elephant Clothing line. After I was approached by one of the founders, I was fascinated by the information I read on their website and after doing my own research. Yes, clothes/fashion is always a  huge interest for me, but I was more interested in the cause. Now, to put the two together, feels really good. Please take the opportunity to visit the website and read about Angry Elephant's inception and what their mission and objectives are. Oh, did I mention, the t-shirts and sweatshirt I received were all made in the USA!

T-shirt: Thanks to Angry Elephant Clothing!
Sweatshirt: Thanks to Angry Elephant Clothing!

I've teamed up with one of the founders of Angry Elephant Clothing to host a t-shirt styling competition (coming soon) featuring five (5) participants: Several fashion bloggers, models (one male) and a personal stylist featured on WJXT "Fashion 4ward" TV fashion segments. This will be a friendly competition to show the individual styles of each participant; they are allowed to create any look they like, whether it's an edgy look, corporate/business, casual, etc. Check back for more details on the competition, the participants and the prize package.

I have to thank my husband for helping me out with this one. He's not one for being in front of the camera so this really meant a lot when he said he would wear the sweatshirt and allow me to feature him on the blog. He's down with the cause! :-)

In addition to being sold online, Angry Elephant Clothing is now available in store at Tom Dick & Harry's - Manhattan, NY.

Altuzarra: All about the Boots!

Hello Fashionistas! Humpday is here. How is your week going?
This is my first post since the weekend so bear with me while I ask the question, how was your weekend? My weekend was not fashionating, but it was great. I saw an amazing movie on Sunday, Before I Go To Sleep, starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth. This movie made my weekend. It had barely any publicity or hoopla surrounding it; the hubster and I actually stumbled upon it accidentally. We pretty much had the entire movie theater to ourselves, it was so empty. However, this is one of the best movies I've seen all year. Filled with the right dose of suspense, mystery and intrigue. I loved it! I don't want to give anything away, but basically Nicole's character is an amnesiac trying to piece together the past 10 years (give or take) of her life. If you have seen this movie, let me know what you think.

The OOTD is the casual look that I chose to put together from this post. I again got thrown off by the weather and was going to do the pictures yesterday but it was a bit warm. It was even warmer today, hence the single pic in the down jacket (I couldn't take it). Since the look I created included the jacket, I wanted to add it in at least one of the pics. What do you guys think?

(Above) I look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, lol.

DvF & Altuzarra

Hello Fashionistas!
How is your weekend going so far? Today was so cold and windy. Brrr! On my last blog post I was mentioning a drop in the temperature would be nice, wasn't expecting such a drastic change. But, I'll take it. I have an over-the-knee boot I've been eager to wear. Actually, when I realized how cold it was today, I was going to do the look I chose from the last post, however, in honor of Diane von Furstenberg coming to E! with her reality show, I put that look on the back burner. Anyone that knows me well, knows that I love my reality shows, whether they are considered ratchet, a waste of time or horrible TV, I'm  a fan.
House of DvF premieres Sunday, Nov. 2nd at 10PM on E! (I've actually seen the first episode on OnDemand). Will you be watching?

This look is one that I would wear to church or a religious service. It is very modest, sensible and classic (black & white is such a staple). The wrap dress is what DvF is known for and with this top you can see a glimpse of that. I've wrapped this top several different ways in the past and I love the versatility it gives me when pairing with different bottoms.

Styling my Altuzarra boots

Edgy Look

Hello Fashionistas! It's hump-day (I know it's already Thursday in the UK, but my West Coasters still have a couple more hours here in the States). Where does the time go? Monday went by so fast that it feels like I completely missed Tuesday. Oh well, Fri-Yay is on its way. I wanted to do this post for a while now, but the weather hasn't been cooperating with me. It's still warm here in the South; not complaining, just would like a little drop in the temperature. Not wanting to wait any longer, I went ahead and created three different looks for my Altuzarra x Target over-the-knee boots. I already have my favorite look in mind and will be sharing in a later blog post. However, I could be swayed.

Which style do you prefer?
