Hello Fashionistas! 

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty uninteresting and not very fashionable to be honest. But, I did get lots done around the house, so there's that. I know I'm so late with this post, but better late than never, right? 
On to the post, Fall/Autumn must-haves according to what showed on the runways. Heads up, this post is going to be a two-parter (still not sure if that's a legit word) because I was not loving everything, per usual. But, I wanted to feature as much as I could and of course, you can always disagree with me in the comments section. Also, I'll have a poll on my Facebook page featuring a coat from Gucci that I really want to know, would you wear it? So, if you haven't liked my page on Facebook, no hard feelings, you still have time 😊.

1. Buttoned up - Not much explanation needed here; it's just an article of clothing that has tons of buttons. I chose this dress because I thought it was cute. It has the belted waist (always love a cinched waist, that will never change). And, of course the buttons going up the front.

2. Retro hats - I love hats. I used to wear hats all the time, not so much now. Not sure why, but I still have tons of hats in my closet and now it will be on-trend this Fall season. I'll be dusting them off and donning them with different outfits.
3. Vintage-Inspired furs & Belted Coat - The faux fur I chose was giving me a vintage vibe. Also, it is belted which I love this trend. Like I've said a thousand times on this blog, I love a cinched waist. #Cinched! Now, you really don't have to go out and buy a new coat because if you have a trench coat in your closet already, it already comes with a belt. Or, just add a belt to an already favorite coat. Which brings me to... #5 Belts. (Yes, I know this is out of order, that's how my brain usually works). Belts are still haute. Especially wide belts. 
4. Western - I had a pair of cowboy boots at one point in my life. I thought they were really cute. The ones I found above are slightly more modern and chic. I actually think they would go nicely with the buttoned-up dress. What do you think?
6. Power Red & Over-the-knee boots - Red is such a strong color. I also think it's a strong statement piece when worn as boots, and very bold when worn on the lips. Since over-the-knee boots are still a haute look, why not get a pair of red ones.
7. Mid-Length Skirts - What's not to love? This is an easy pairing. A patterned mid-length skirt, a plain tee, wide belt, and flats or booties. Done!
8. Chocolate brown colors - There were a lot of chocolate brown on the runway for Fall. Everything from coats, shoes, bags, accessories...it was a lot. But, I was all for it and better yet, I have plenty of chocolate brown in my closet.
The fishnets, I know you see them. This is also a trend for the Fall; I'm on the fence with this one.

Hello Fashionistas! 

I woke up to sad news today that Oscar de la Renta has passed. Upsetting news for the fashion community for sure. This man was not only a designer, he was a visionary. He created clothes for women who were successful, elegant, sophisticated and confident. He catered to those women and in turn became one of the best designers of the 20th and 21st century. His staple was feminine, elegant and chic. No wonder why he was a constant on the red carpet and featured in numerous movies. Also, you remember the pink dress Carrie Bradshaw wore in Sex and the City, where she takes Aleksandr Petrovsky to McDonald's? That dress was to die for. And, yes! That was Oscar de la Renta. I've put together some of my favorite pieces from Oscar de la Renta over the last decade. Do you have a favorite look from Oscar de la Renta?

Hello Fashionistas! 

Yes, it's hump day and if you were like me today, I was in a slump; but then I got really excited after viewing all the different designers that showcased at New York Fashion Week, so far. I wanted to share some of my favorite looks, which surprisingly were not all from my favorite designers. There are several pieces that I chose from designers I didn't even know existed. A pleasant fashion surprise nonetheless. I was really looking forward to: Zac Posen, Jason Wu, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, Derek Lam and Christian Siriano - to see if he was still "fierce!" - which he still is. The surprises were: Rosie Assoulin, Sophie Theallet and Badgley Mischka. 

The above and below picks are from Rodarte, not a huge fan in the past, but I now am. The thigh-high lace up boots and white jeans - Haute! The flirty  mesh at the hem of the skirt (below) so sexy, again with the lace up boots. 

Zac Posen:

Zac Posen has always been a favorite of mine. I think he really understands and appreciates a woman's body, in which he makes dresses that molds to our frames. That hour-glass silhouette is quite noticeable in these two picks, especially in the red mermaid dress below.

Rosie Assoulin:

This particular designer I was not familiar with before NYFW, however she is now someone to watch. The dress above reminds me of a traditional island garb, yet it's very refined and elegant. #Twirl

Jason Wu:

Jason Wu is amazing! I love what he did with the wrap dress above. I can see this being a career woman's staple piece because it's business with a bit of sass. 

Oscar De La Renta:

The belt above is everything! There were a lot of cropped tops, gingham patterns and floral patterns in his showcase. I really liked the different options he presented and I would say a lot of the pieces were very wearable and on trend.

Sophie Theallet:

Again, the belt is everything! This designer was also not one on my radar but I'm sure glad I stumbled upon her. I love a cinched waist. And the peek-a boo colors at the hem - of the above skirt - is on point.

Naeem Khan:

My first time seeing this designer's body of work. In one word - elegant.

This dress below could easily be a showstopper at a wedding this upcoming Spring/Summer.

Badgley Mischka:

My absolute favorite. I wanted to own one of each. This is what Ready-To-Wear means to me. Every single piece could walk off the runway and right onto the streets of NY, LA or Chicago. The jacket above, which I think is a mixture of the classic Chanel and a biker jacket is so fabulous! It's feminine-chic at its best. One more below which is also swoon-worthy.

Diane von Furstenberg:

Diane has been doing this for years and you can see, she's a pro. How fantastic is that flirty dress above?  Also, kudos for having Naomi Campbell, who just turned 44, walk in your show. Why does this woman not age? She looks gorgeous and she is working that dress with her signature strut. #Work!
