SCAD Inspired (Part II)

Hello Fashionistas!
How is your weekend so far? It's Martin Luther King Day tomorrow, so that means the day off for a lot of folks. What will you be doing?

These are the remainder of the photos from our photo shoot last week at SCAD. My cousin was the creative director and Erica Hawes was the photographer & comedian - see my behind the scenes youtube videos - for the day.

After all the hard work, we went to eat at a "funky" cafe called The Funky Brunch Cafe. The food was delicious and the best part is, they serve coconut pancakes, yum! 👍

So cold!

SCAD Inspired (Part I)

Hello Fashionistas!
Happy (early) Hump-day! How has the New Year been treating you so far? Any resolutions broken yet? I don't mind telling you that I don't make New Year's resolutions. I know myself well enough to know that more than likely that resolution will be long forgotten by January 3rd, if not sooner. However, those of you that are following through, best of luck to you and hope you follow through.

I had the opportunity to take a tour of SCAD the other day with my cousin - a college student - visiting for a couple days. We were both impressed and inspired by all the creativity that these students have displayed all throughout the many different campuses. We decided to go back the next day to snap some pics, hence this blog post which is a two-parter.

I really enjoy being in a creative environment. In my opinion, visual art can be very stimulating to the senses; I know for me it encourages me to push myself outside of my comfort-zone, try something new, take a chance. So I took a chance at being ANTM (America's Next Top Model), & almost broke my neck. My back. And my ankle. But that is neither here nor there, the point is I TRIED. Has the arts ever inspired you in any way?

My beautiful and oh so talented cousin - Yolanda Watson - was the creative director today. She was absolutely amazing coaching, directing and assisting me so I could get it together. Photo shoots are not really easy for me, I'm my worse critic and I can never really stay still long enough for that perfect shot (according to Erica 😀); so a big thank you to you cuz for helping me out today.

New Year in Theory

Happy New Year Fashionistas!
A new year, new opportunities. Has I look back on 2016, I'm very grateful for the year I had, the highs and even the lows. I am thankful for my family and friends and all the experiences I've had. One of the more memorable moments I had was with the hubster not too long ago - mid November to be exact - we took a road trip starting from Georgia and ended in California. Yes! just he and I in a car for over 3000 miles for several days. We made a lot of stops on the way, mostly because of me, but most importantly, we laughed a lot and created once in a lifetime memories. He and I share an adventurous spirit and I'm so grateful we were able to go on that adventure together.

How long do you keep your Christmas tree up for? Even though all the presents are gone from under the tree, I still love to look at it as I go about my business during the day. Once, I left this same Christmas tree up for an entire year, true story. I kept saying I didn't have time to put everything away, but at the end of the day it made me happy when I got home and there it was in all its festive glory.

Milly in Winter

Hello Fashionistas!

The weekend is coming to an end as I compose my thoughts for this post 😞. Hope you all enjoyed. As for me, it was so hectic, it seems likes all the stores were jam-packed and double the typical number of vehicles were on the road. It was a mess!
Since it's the holidays, I wanted to do a shoot that reflected the season. I don't think I've ever done a blog post like this before. I looked in my closet and picked out the obvious red coat, tried to find a green dress, however this Milly jumped out at me. The dress itself is not meant for the Winter, it's a Spring-Summer "ensemb"; It has spaghetti straps and a beautiful bow on the back, which I did not display this go-round. Maybe this upcoming Spring. Dusted off my Altuzarra over-the-knees (I haven't worn these boots much), found a scarf that happened to be red and out the door I went.

After the shoot, I had errands to run (as usual) and I switched the coat for a fitted blazer; the boots for a flat-heeled boot and it really changed the outfit drastically. I think I could wear the same look to a business meeting next. I love a multi-functioning piece. I've only worn this dress once and it was to a fancy affair, & now I'll definitely have it in rotation for other functions instead of just for fancy shindigs. Money well-spent! 😊

Bonobos

Hello Fashionistas!

It's Fri-Yay! 😃. The New Year is rapidly approaching. Are you excited? But first, I hope you have your Christmas shopping completed and now looking forward to spending time with friends and  loved ones. If you don't, it's crunch time. That is why I'm excited to bring you this blog post. I was contacted by a representative from Bonobos, a men's clothing line to create a mood board using both men's clothing & women's to complement one another. It was perfect timing. Usually, I only feature women's clothing on my blog, however, since I just did a holiday gift guide for her, it only seems fair that I do something for the fellas. Now, this company has stylish wear for the jet-setter, weekender and business savvy. A complete selection, from casual chinos to suits. Because I was asked to come up with a complement to a male attire, I chose the first look and thought, done! Then, the other two looks below, was a no-brainer; Comfortable and chic.

I love a pair of jeans with a fitted jacket. It's business casual for a creative meeting during the day, then meeting up with friends for drinks later.

Chinos are super-comfy and fun - depending on the color palette- but you can make them dressy with heels. Easy for going around town, to school or casual Friday at work.

Ladies, if you want your man to try a new style or update his wardrobe for the upcoming year, visit Bonobos. They currently have a holiday gift guide for us last minute shoppers as well 😉.

Sponsored: Aisle Style

Hello Fashionistas!

Hope everyone had a fashionating weekend. This blog post is for my teen readers, however, my mature audience can gain valuable information as well (and most likely, you will be footing the bill 😊) so please continue reading. Today I'm introducing you to a company based in the UK called Aisle Style. They are an online provider of custom-made dresses at very low prices for girls and ladies. A vast selection of, not only prom dresses, also wedding, bridal party, special occasion, evening wear, & more. The styles vary from, simple to extravagant, hence the "celebrity prom dress", vintage, princess inspired, etc. Since 2007 they have provided custom-made dresses for that special occasion, which makes them ideal for delivering the perfect dress for that memorable event. Measurements can be entered in on the website and consultations are available. What is the most special occasion in a young girl's life - other than celebrating her sweet sixteen- the next best thing of course is the prom! A memorable occasion that needs the perfect dress that you will remember forever, click here.
Now, I know what you are thinking, it's a bit early to be thinking about prom dresses, but au contraire; to find that right dress, you should start looking now, especially if you want to slay!

Chiffon perfection

If you are looking for an affordable or some might say, Cheap Prom Dresses, this is the website. Whether you want a long prom dress or a short little number, you will have an expansive selection to choose from. I've spent quite a few hours perusing the website and the dresses that I have featured today are by far my favorites. The prices are in pounds, however, a quick conversion can be done for the currency exchange on google. Let me know which ones you like.
